We got introduced to Samfuego Foods this summer when he vended with us at First Thursday. This stuff is so good you will be hooked in no time if you like it hot!
Where does your passion for food come from?
My grandfather was a chef in England and I feel I inherited that same passion from him: creating art through food. Food is love and it’s how I contribute to the world.
Tell us about your culinary journey.
I have worked as a chef for 25 years most recently at Google. I did not know much about cooking or even realized this would be my path. I soon realized creating with food seem to come natural to me and I was then blessed with many teachers who were put in my path and I hope I have been and will be the same for others.
Where do you source your ingredients?
We source from as many local farms as possible
Tell us about a new product you are working on.
Our next venture we will begin moving into seasonings and rubs to pair with our sauces.
What will our fans find at your booth this fall?
We will be offering 3 different salsas plus a special limited addition flavor for the extra spicy lovers and 6 different Hot sauces. We process all of our products by hand in small batches, offering a variety of different flavors and spice to please the palate. All of our products are plant based, vegan and gluten free.
What are your goals for your business in the next year?
To move into retailers and begin building a larger online presence.
What was your biggest challenge when starting out?
Believing in myself enough to create the business. I had the vision for it but was caught up in a bit of fear and played the “what if ” game, this kept me stuck for a moment. Once I moved through this the business was born and has moved forward quite quickly.
What’s your favorite part of this food movement?
Going back to roots where we are using ingredients that are grown from the earth and being able to create something from a place of passion and love.
What’s the best part of your job?
My business/career has created the space so I may connect with the part of me that loves to create play in the imagination.
