Robert & Anita Shane are the owners/artisans that founded Alaska Rug Company. AK Rug Co. is an Eco-friendly company that uses 100% authentic Alaskan fishing line & rope to make beautiful handwoven durable doormats, rugs, coasters, signs, baskets, bowls, curtain tie backs, trivets, & so much more. The Shane’s live and work out of an old decommissioned cannery, remote on Kodiak Island and recycle retired fishing gear from all over Alaska to make their wares . They started tying knots to keep their hands busy in 2010 when they decided to quit smoking and 10 years later they are still non-smokers & Alaska Rug Co has become their sole source of income.
